Witness some of the country’s finest opera performers sing in the Cathedral Cave, with Opera in the Caves, at one of Rockhampton’s most stunning natural tourist attractions.
This is the first underground location that UOC performed in with its first Opera in the Caves season held in 2008. Since, the company has dazzled audiences, with each patron keen to venture down into the caves for stunning music, with the experience amplified by superb acoustics.
In 2016, UOC will present two seasons of Opera in the Caves with four world-class performers accompanied by one of Australia’s finest pianists.
About the venue:
The Capricorn Caves, located just 20 minutes north of Rockhampton’s town centre provides a venue with some of the best acoustics in Australia.
The majestic Cathedral Cave, set with church pews, provides just 90 audience members the most unique and intimate concert delivered by a line-up of world-class professionals.
The caves that began forming about 390 million years ago provide an intimate space for the audience to have a face-to-face relationship with the performers. This makes for not only an evening of beautiful song, but also an adventure for guests as they journey underground, and into this stunning and acoustically brilliant performance space.
