Eleanor Varnes

Eleanor VarnesBorn in Australia, 1976, Eleanor completed her Bachelor of Music majoring in voice, and went on to do a Post Graduate Diploma of Education, and a Masters of Philosophy majoring in vocal performance.

She has performed such works as Richard Strauss’s Vier Letzte Lieder and Berlioz’s Les Nuit D’Ete in recital. Her stage performances include the roles of Serpina(La Serva Padrona), Lucy (The Telephone), Bastienne(Bastien und
Bastienne
), Vespetta (Pimpinone) and Giorgetta (Il Tabarro) as part of the Taabinga Spring Music Festival, and Sandgate Music Festival by the Sea. Eleanor also performed the roles of Mabel (Pirates of Penzance), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Micaela (Carmen) for the University of Queensland Opera School.

Eleanor was a featured artist in the highly acclaimed Spirit Song Series in conjunction with Brisbane City Hall and is in constant demand for corporate performances. Eleanor is a regular soloist with many choirs and orchestras around Queensland, has worked with the Opera Queensland Chorus since 2004 and last year was a finalist in the Australia and New Zealand Dame Joan Sutherland Award.
