Jennifer Turnbull
Soprano Jennifer completed a Graduate Diploma in Opera Performance and a
Graduate Diploma in Vocal Performance at the Queensland
Conservatorium.
In 2000, Jennifer was a semi-finalist in the McDonald's Aria Competition and was awarded the Conservatorium Post Graduate Vocal Scholarship and was the winner of the Alton Budd Memorial Competition. In 2001, Jennifer was a Developing Artist with Opera Queensland. She appeared in the Opera Queensland Chorus in performances of Beethoven's 9 th Symphony, Andrea Chenier and Tosca.
Jennifer has appeared as a soloist with Opera Queensland, the Queensland State and Municipal Choir, the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra, the Queensland Pops Orchestra and the Australian Army Band Brisbane. Roles include Cupid in Orpheus in the Underworld , Lisa in La Sonnambula , Valencienne in The Merry Widow , Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance (all for Rockdale Municipal Opera), the Bat and the Shepherdess in L'Enfant et les Sortilèges and Euridice in Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld (for the Queensland Conservatorium).
Throughout 2004 and 2005, Jennifer pursued her vocal studies in London with the late Enid Hartle and the late Jean Mallandaine.
In 2007 Jennifer appeared with the chorus in Opera Queensland's production of Puccini's Madama Butterfly . She also appeared as a soloist with the 58 th Australian Intervarsity Choral Festival, performing Carl Orff's Catulli Carmina and the Australian premiere of his Trionfo di Afrodite. Jennifer is currently a Young Artist with Opera Queensland and later this year she will perform the role of the First Spirit and cover the role of Papagena in The Magic Flute for Opera Queensland.
