Jordin Steele

Regis DanillonA classically trained mezzo soprano Jordin’s musical education began at a very early age with the piano.

After experimenting with several instruments, she began classical vocal training in her teens with Gloria Ward in Brisbane. With a firm musical background established in both the AMEB and Trinity schools of music, she then trained under Gregory Massingham at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 1997.

Jordin then traveled overseas for a number of years and has recently returned to Australia to complete a Bachelor of Music in Performance at the University of Queensland and is studying under the esteemed tenor Joseph Ward OBE.

Her roles have included Fantine in Les Miserables, Oberon in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Mama Morton in Chicago and the 3rd Lady in The Magic Flute.

With an adaptable range Jordin has a voice that lends itself to both jazz, classical and modern with a powerful lower register. She performs regularly as a soloist with the Brisbane Concert Choir and the University of Queensland Chorale. She has been involved in amateur music theatre, choral and vocal productions for over ten years and is currently working in several ensembles including the Ragtag Review and the performance art Duo, Lascivite.
