Brett Holland
After completing his Bachelor of Music (Vocal) at the Queensland
Conservatorium of Music, Brett Holland went on to a Graduate
Diploma in Education at QUT and recently completed his Master of
Philosophy majoring in Vocal Performance at UQ.
A well-known bass in Queensland, Brett performs as a regular soloist with
many choirs, orchestras and associations. He has performed all over the
state in various roles - Scarpia (Tosca) for 4MBS’s Music Festival, Toreador
(Carmen), Colas (Bastien und Bastienne), Commadatore (Don Giovanni),
Mikado and Poo-bah (Mikado), Sarastro (Magic Flute), and his most recent
being the title role in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi with the Powerhouse Opera
in 2005 and the title role of Elijah for the Noosa festival in 2007.
As a member of Opera Queensland, Brett has performed in many operas and concerts as a minor principal and chorus member, often appearing as a soloist at outdoor concert events such as Opera in the Park, Opera on Broadbeach, Opera at Salt and Opera on Kings. He also recently performed and recorded Verdi arias for 4MBS.
Brett is also an accomplished Director and Conductor. He has directed
operas for the Taabinga Music Festival and Opera by the Sea, and has
conducted events such as Carmina Burana, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Haydn’s
Nelsonmesse with the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra and the
Queensland University Musical Society, amongst others. He was recently
invited to be the Guest Conductor for Redcliffe’s Carols by Candlelight,
Singfest 2006, Sing Together Festival 2007 and faculty guest for the
International Bonyi Festival.
Brett’s charismatic personality is evident in his performance and true bass
tone will resonate in the hearts of all who hear him sing. A truly
professional performer.
