Opera in the Caves! Literally. The Underground Opera Company is pleased to announce our second Concert at the magnificent Jenolan Caves in New South Wales's beautiful Blue Mountains. As you may know, The Jenolan Caves is regarded as Australia's most outstanding cave system. With 11 spectacular show caves, pure underground rivers and amazing formations Jenolan Caves is among the finest and oldest cave systems in the world.
The Jenolan Caves will offer the audience a choice of two incredible Opera experiences. The Grand Arch Valentine's Concert and The Temple of Baal Intimate Experience. The Grand Arch will provide an incredibly vast and spectacular backdrop to this wonderful concert with different pieces being staged amongst the magnificent rock structures. Limited to only 700 seats this will be a concert not to miss. The Temple of Baal Intimate Experience will see the audience venture deep into one of the most awe inspiring cave systems that Jenolan has to offer. It is here that only 45 people will be able to experience the pure acoustic voices of The Underground Opera Company resonating through this natural wonder.
"Opera in the Caves" is a collaboration of popular pieces from opera and light opera's most famous productions. These include Carmen, Madame Butterfly, The Barber of Seville, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera and, of course, the immortal Nessun Dorma from Turandot.
Audience from as far away as Perth WA have traveled to see previous Underground Opera Concerts and commented "If you're not a fan of operatic music this will convert you. The Underground Opera Company is pleased to present the talents of National and International performers Sophie Wotton, Eleanor Varnes, Lionel Theunissen and featuring Glenn Lorimer former principle and soloist for the Scottish National Opera Company and the London Opera Company with the sensational John Woods on piano.
This is an opportunity to experience artists at the top of there field in one of the world's finest cave systems.
