The Underground Opera Company returns to the Sunshine Castle, Bli Bli, (just a 5-minute drive from Maroochydore) for their next “Opera in the Castle” concerts. Resonating through the magnificent Banquet Hall, some of Australia’s finest voices will perform a selection of pieces from popular operas and musical theatre showstoppers!
The Underground Opera Company is making waves around regional and rural Australia because of its unorthodox preference for underground performances…literally. The reason we like to perform underground is for the incredible acoustics, however, where there is no suitable underground venue we search for the best acoustics on the surface. We have found this at the Sunshine Castle, Bli Bli.
“The beauty of our concerts is that repertoire will enrapture any audience whilst the quality of the performers will elate the most ardent opera aficionado.”
Our programme of annual and bi-annual concerts is expanding rapidly. We have been investigating more venues around the country and are very excited about the future. What we have found will certainly fit our motto of “extraordinary performances in breathtaking spaces”.
Opera in the Castle will feature a magnificent cast of Australia’s finest performing pieces from classic musicals such as Phantom as well as popular opera greats from Lakme, Rigoletto, the immortal Nessen Dorma from Turandot and many more.
“It is a wonderful experience to sit and absorb the voices of these wonderful performers. Tenor Glen Lorimer had spent the last ten years performing with The Scottish National Opera Company, The London Opera Company and touring the world with Pavilion Opera before joining the company. Internationals, Mezzo Georgia Hawes, Soprano Dania Cornelius and Baritone Douglas MacRae join him. Accompanying these wonderful voices is renown pianist Mr John Woods”.
This production makes for a wonderful experience and is recommended to anyone who loves music. With complimentary canapés served during interval in the Castle Courtyard and an audience limited to one hundred “Opera in the Castle” will set the standard for an intimate evening of beautiful music and extraordinary voices in a wonderful setting.
See you all at the show!
