If you are an ardent Opera and Broadway fan or have never experienced either then “Opera on Broadway” is a must see! The concert will thrill the audience with a selection of songs from classic musicals Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Cats and more, mixed in with popular Opera greats from Carmen, The Marriage of Figaro, the immortal Nessun Dorma from Turandot and many more.
The Underground Opera Co is finally coming to the Coal Fields community of Moranbah. Producer Bruce Edwards says “It has been about 17 years since I lived, for a short while, in Moranbah when I first started working underground. It is great to come back to this wonderful community, but this time, without having to do the drilling and blasting”.
A magnificent cast of Queensland’s finest talent has been carefully selected to bring the magnificence and splendour of these musicals to life. “Opera on Broadway” features the superb voices of Glen Lorimer (Scottish National Opera Co., London Opera Company), Sheldon Matheison (Opera Qld), with the incredible John Woods on Piano and introducing Jordin Steele and Sofie Haig-Smith. Audience for our concerts travel vast distances and are never left disappointed. One couple that traveled from Perth to see “Opera Underground” (our first underground show in Bendigo, Vic) commented “If you're not a fan of operatic music this will convert you. This is opera in the raw. 4 spectacular voices, an unbelievable, intimate venue, pure joy! I cannot recommend this highly enough. Do not miss this when it comes your way!!”
Get your group together and glam up for a wonderful evening of popular Opera and Broadway hits. Tables are available for groups from two to twenty so book yours soon! The venue will be fully licensed and feel free to bring your own Canapés for interval.
“Opera on Broadway” will light up the Moranbah Community Centre on October 3rd at 7.30pm. Tickets will be on sale for this event from the 14th of August through the Community Centre on 4941 7377. For those of you who like to travel Underground Opera will be presenting “Opera Underground” 61 metres underground at the Central Deborah Gold Mine in Bendigo, Victoria, on the 14th, 15th & 16th of November and on the 21st, 22nd & 23rd in the magnificent ”Cathedral” at the Capricorn Caves in Rockhampton.
